ABOUT ME
What I really love to do
Nice to meet you
- Do you want your business or nonprofit’s messaging to be masterfully written, mission-aligned, and grammatically correct?
- Do you want a challenging yet drama-free – dare I say fun at times – creative process, and a true ally to work with?
- Are you open to learning, new ideas, brainstorming, and revisiting your core message?
Then let’s put our heads together!
Here’s a concrete example of how I can help: My ghostwriting service allows us to discover your voice and eliminate hours (that you don’t have) of conceptualization, drafting, and refinement of pieces.
I simplify your process, so you are freed up to do what you need to do! Your community and your readers will notice and become faithful followers and clients.
I create:
- Fundraising solicitations
- Blog posts
- Press releases
- Product descriptions that sell
- Print and digital newsletters
- Ghostwriting – columns, books
- White papers
- Grants, cases for support, case studies
- Email newsletters and campaigns
- Direct mail solicitations
- Artist statements
- Museum exhibition content
- Educational film content
- Special event marketing and reporting materials
- Scripts, messaging, and talking points for special events and leadership summits
- PowerPoint presentations
- Invitations and special events collateral
- Interview-based magazine articles
My specialty niches include healthcare, philanthropy, marketing strategy, museum education and management, interior design, history, fine art, and breast cancer awareness/survivorship.
How did I get here?
Ever since I devoured the Nancy Drew mystery book series as a third grader, I knew I loved words, stories, and suspense (it also may explain the unusual hold “Law and Order” reruns have over me). Then I immersed myself in history and art. As a native Washingtonian (DC), the Smithsonian museums and galleries were my playground – lucky me!
Word Bird Writing + Editing is the culmination of my love for words, stories, and people. I was born an extrovert, to the point where I wanted to hear an update on Santa’s life/work balance, as opposed to asking for presents.
These early experiences and passions fuel the love I have for the work I do today. The way stories are told is what creates investment – emotional and financial. Stories explain why your clients should care about what you’re doing, why your donor should support your cause, and why a customer should believe – and purchase – your product.
I’ve written for a family of health newsletters published by Harvard Medical School, a North Carolina National Public Radio affiliate, regional women’s, home and garden, and lifestyle publications, hospitals and health systems, tourism businesses, marketing, branding, and content firms, artists, and students.
Though my client roster might be diverse, my professional goal never wavers: I want to connect with my clients and formulate messaging that moves readers. I love nothing more than figuring out how to create the words that will match each client’s unique needs.
Every story we tell about our nonprofit, business, or ourselves is uniquely meaningful. I will help you tell yours, and make it compelling.
